RECONSTRUCTION:THE DOCTOR WHO PROJECT II

THIS COULD BE DONE!!!

ALTERNATIVE IDEAS!

After the Bullet-Time theory hit the ground, many people e-mailed me with ideas of their own as an alternative form of "Reconstruction".

This has fallen into two formats, and within that there exists two options. But unlike the Bullet-Time theory, these ideas can be realised, utilising computer technology. And this is the heart of Phase Two, and you thoughts count. Read below to find out more...

Option One:

FLASH Animated Episodes:

The Credit for this idea goes to Christopher McElroy, who contacted me on the 9th of May, 2000.

"Take the telesnaps, soundtrack and script....and, using the talents of one or more persons skilled in Shockwave Flash animation, CREATE AN ANIMATED VERSION OF THE MISSING EPISODES.

"I admit, the idea doesn't sound all that great on the surface. But it IS feasible, and would work until the other two options are available. The soundtrack is there, so that's half the job done right there. The telesnaps would give the animators visual references to work with, and the existing videotaped episodes could fill them in on recreating the mannerisms of the main cast members. The episodes would be in black-and-white, saving even more time on creating the images. As a member of the Force.net, I've had an opportunity to watch Star Wars fan films done with Flash animation, and some of them have been quite impressive. I estimate a half-hour's worth of Flash animation (including sound) would be roughly 6 megabytes size -- easily downloadable. The success of such series as "Batman: The Animated Series," "The Simpsons," "Reboot," and any Japanese anime series you can think of makes it clear that animation is a viable format for anyone with the talent -- and imagination."

This is an idea I like the sound of, but there is an alternative idea...

Option Two:

CGI-Drawn Episodes:

CGI Reconstruction of the missing footage, using the same materials available to make a ReBoot style rendering. I know that such work has already begun with two brothers, who create Eighth Doctor shorts to download on-line. I have e-mailed them about a potential co-production, as if were, but I have yet to here from them. It would be like rendering a CGI movie, pretty much from scratch, but given care and a close study of such things like shooting scripts, the novels (again, authors have had to speculate events) and the soundtrack, things like scene and episode construction can fall into a basic form. Robert D. Franks noted that the telesnaps could then be used to "as reference to get the scenery and costumes correct. Trying to recreate camera angles, etc would be treading close to infringing the director's rights."

So they were the two ideas presented, and both have there merits and short comings. But that's for you to decide upon...so I put it to a vote, where YOU could have your say...

It's happening!!!
