RECONSTRUCTION:THE DOCTOR WHO PROJECT II
THE WAY FORWARD?
PAGE TWO
The bulk of lost Doctor Who footage exists in three other forms; "telesnaps", off-air photographs, image grabs of exisitnf footage clips and soundtrack recordings of the actual film and tape (not just music or sound effects, the whole track of a story exists).
Also other fragments are available too; model footage, cinecamera film of the TV broadcasts, short clips and even an odd episode (stories came in various parts).
Below are examples of exisiting footage. These come from the first adventure of the Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton), called "Power of the Daleks".
Obviously, there are a larger number images available; the telesnaps of a specific episode are published, one a month, in Doctor Who Magazine, showing fans the photos as if they were a photo-novel.
So, we come now to the main point, this is:
THE DOCTOR WHO PROJECT
THE MATRIX PROVED THAT TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPED TO THE POINT WHERE COMPUTERS COULD RENDER A 2-DIMENSIONAL IMAGE INTO A 360 DEGREE IMAGE, AND MAKE IT LOOK LIKE IT HAD BEEN SHOT LIVE.
WITH TIME AND CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT, COULD THE SAME PROCESS BE USED - LINKING THROUGH THE TELESNAPS AND IN TIME WITH THE SOUNDTRACK - ANIMATE AND RENDER FOOTAGE, EFFECTIVELY REBUILDING THE EPISODES FROM SCRATCH USING THE VISUAL FOOTAGE AVAILABLE?

THE THOUGHT THAT HAS OCCURRED TO ME IS THIS-
ESSENTIALLY, I'M TALKING ABOUT USING THIS TECHNOLOGY TO ANIMATE, PHOTOREALISTICALLY, THE TELESNAPS INTO THE FORM OF LOST FOOTAGE. IT WOULD BE A FORM OF CGI MOVIE, LIKE "TOY STORY" AND "A BUG'S LIFE", BUT USING THE TELESNAPS AS THE BASIS FOR RENDERING.
RENDERED FOOTAGE?
